چکیده
Background: In this study we compared the clinical and biochemical variables of adolescent females with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) its association or without acanthosis nigricans (AN).Methods: Adolescent girls (14-19 years) oligomenorrhoea hyperandrogenism were studied. Clinical parameters like blood pressure (BP), body mass index (BMI), abdominal circumference (AC), presence absence acne AN hirsutism score noted. Biochemical tests included serum total testosterone (TT), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) levels free androgen (FAI). Postprandial plasma insulin (PPI) glucose (PPG) measured to assess resistance tolerance respectively. Results: Significant differences observed in BMI, AC, DBP, TT FAI between two groups. The difference prevalence rate abnormal groups was insignificant. Logistic regression modelling as response variable interest SBP, level, PP PPG predictors yields testosterone, sugar, PPI, SHBG main determinants. model signifies positive impacts BMI while negative influence PPI level on AN. This analysis an evidence for a strong relation AN.Conclusions: girl is another marker obesity but not indicator underlying intolerance. Further studies are needed detect how many them ultimately develop diabetes future.

Crouzon syndrome in association with acanthosis nigricans
Crouzon syndrome is a rare inherited autosomal dominant syndrome characterized by craniosynostosis, midface hypoplasia. Acanthosis nigricans may be associated with Crouzon syndrome, but it differs from the classic crouzon syndrome. This is a report of a 30-year-old-woman who presented acanthosis nigricans coexist with crouzon syndrome.

Fasting and stimulated insulin concentrations in four patients with acanthosis nigricans and polycystic ovary syndrome were compared with four patients, matched for weight and ovarian morphology, without acanthosis. The median fasting serum insulin concentrations were 114.2 and 25.1 mU/l in the respective groups (P = 0.02). One additional patient was investigated before and after an 18% increas...
متن کاملAcanthosis nigricans in adolescents: a practical approach.
Acanthosis nigricans (AN) is a lesion affecting localized areas of the skin in persons with obesity and/or hyperinsulinemia. Biochemical mechanisms responsible for developing this hyperplastic lesion are unclear, but likely involve local cutaneous growth factors. It is associated with obesity, endocrinopathies (insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus, Cushing disease and acromegaly) and visceral ...
متن کاملA Study on Correlation between Acanthosis Nigricans (an) and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (pcos) in Indian Adolescent Girls
Acanthosis nigricans (AN) is a readily recognizable dermatological manifestation of an underlying metabolic defect like insulin resistance (IR) or obesity which is closely associated with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). The aim of the study was to compare the clinical and biochemical parameters of Indian adolescent girls with PCOS with and without AN. 58 adolescent girls in the age group of...

Background The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has been studied in different populations, but their results were so controversial regarding Iranian women. These controversial data indicated the need for more investigation of MetS characteristics in PCOS patients in our population. So this study aimed to evaluate the clinical and laboratory characteris...
